Windows have been blown out, rooms are destroyed, the front yard is full of bullet holes, the left wing on the first floor has been marked by fire, and on the roof remains pieces of...well, we're not sure, but it used to be alive. The Attack. It happened in the middle of the night. No one knew it was coming, and no one was prepared for what they would face. Humans and mutants full of self-hate on a suicide mission. After a night like this, something tells me there won't be school for awhile. The Fallout. Dead bodies are everywhere and their beloved safe haven has been destroyed. It's time to decide who you can trust, and who to ally yourself with. Not everyone is as evil as they seem, and not every smile has good intentions behind it. The Reason. It's been seven years since "The Cure" was invented and now, it's starting to wear off. Former mutants who thought they could have a normal life are experiencing a massive influx of power, sometimes rendering them uncontrollable. Some of these mutants hate themselves so much that they think the world would be better off without them. All of them. The Future. With Magneto building up his Brotherhood once more, the mansion destroyed, and Ororo at the helm of Xavier's, everyone is on the brink of something. Is it war? 5:44 pm [faery_magique]	NO GOOD DEED PREMISE | CHARACTERS | FAQ | RULES Just a month ago, former mutants who'd received the shot to take their powers away began witnessing a return of their powers. Only these powers were ten times stronger than anything they'd felt before. Some were able to control themselves, but others were not so lucky. Now, with security and safety uncertain, it seems the wall between humans and mutants is rising up again. Only days ago, and underground anti-mutant cell held its first official meeting. Tired of dealing with the mercurial habits of mutants, they have decided to retaliate against them. In just two weeks' time they will gather men and women from every walk of life, anyone who is willing to go in to Xavier's school with weapons drawn, and take as many mutants with them to hell as they can. Some are even mutants themselves, disgusted with what they may turn back into or have already returned to, and willing to strike a blow that could signify the ends of mutants. This is a movie!canonverse game to start, but it won't stay that way for long. We’re staring this game off with a literal bang, and it’s only going to get better from there. Game opens DECEMBER 17. We discuss every kind of movie from that time period – silent movies, German Expressionism, pre-code films, the Warner Brothers musicals of the 30s, 1930s gangster films, film noir, screwball comedies, romantic movies, MGM musicals, Italian neo-realism, French New Wave, British New Wave, Hitchcock, the new German cinema, Japanese movies, science fiction films, the Universal monster movies, Hammer horror, etc. Directors from Hitchcock to Kubrick, from Fellini to Howard Hawks, from Billy Wilder to Kurosawa. In this time of crisis, as sensible people become paranoid, personal agendas take over and well-kept secrets threaten to be revealed, some people will find an inner strength they never knew they had, and the most unlikely heroes will emerge. As a mushroom cloud appears on the horizon, the town is thrown into a frenzy and police try to keep order in the face of the unthinkable. The fear and panic that begins to grip the town is palpable — each person dealing with it differently. How would you react if you knew there was a nuclear strike not far from where you lived? You are cut off from the rest of the world, there is no new information coming in, and then the more immediate threat kicks in. Were you safe at home? Were you driving, flying somewhere else? With the knowledge that you have your life and nothing else, what will you do? What side will you fight on when war inevitably breaks out? The question is, where do you fall in this new world? Will you fight on honors side, or fight against everything you know to be right. The choice is yours. This is Franklin, a place survivors gather to try and rebuild. 2:50 am [dfordoom]	science fiction community I’ve started a specialised SF community - sf_with_bite. It’s for discussions of science fiction, but not the Star Wars type of SF, or the space-battles-and-laser-cannons type of military SF, or the kind of Hard SF that can only be appreciated by those with post-graduate qualifications in both pure mathematics and physics! It’s more for stuff like Bruce Sterling - SF that is more interested in people and society than technology (sometimes it gets called Soft SF). And imagination-challenging SF, like J. G. Ballard and Philip K. Dick. And authors who transcend the limitations of descriptions like Hard SF and Space Opera, authors like Alastair Reynolds. And authors who merrily trample the boundaries between genres, like Harlan Ellison. And cyberpunk and slipstream. And SF that addresses ethical issues and even alternate history.

We talk about most 19th century art with the exception of the Impressionists. We talk about 19th century writers such as Swinburne, Baudelaire, Rimbaud, Symons and Oscar Wilde, and artists such as Rossetti, Holman Hunt, Waterhouse, Burne-Jones, Moreau, Gustav Klimt, Paul Gauguin, Carlos Schwabe, Fernand Khnopff and Lucien Levy-Dhurmer.
